I moved back to the UK from New Zealand after receiving an enticing offer from a friend, working in the marine industry and for a decent pay rise. The prospect of travel was what tipped the scales and made the move a little easier, I started in the office a not 48hrs after landing and was put to work on improving internal systems, starting with moving the company website in-house, which included rebuilding it in WordPress to look as similar as possible. While working for YPI, I have added an online store to their website to better manage the parts stock, and attempt to capture more customers.
My duties included;
- Setup and maintain servers
- Setup and maintain the company websites
- Manage G Suite accounts
- Build networks (Pulling cable, racking equipment, configuring switches, wireless, servers)
- Maintain virtual environments (VMware)
- Manage FreePBX phone systems
- Develop tools (Account creation scripts, log processing, Radius account creation)
- Maintain Firewalls (PfSense, port forwarding, whitelisting network access, load-balancing/failover networks)
- Basic VSAT and Marine communications (Troubleshooting, Setup)
- Server Networking (Domain controller setup, Active Directory, Network shares)
- CCTV Install and configuration
